Congratulations to Joe Fortis (L) and FDNY for taking first place at our second annual International EMS Competition (IEMSC). The competition was held on July 31st and August 1st, 2009. There were a total of eight (8) scenarios ranging from a Mega-code using Laerdal’s Sim-Man® to a Mass-Casualty-Incident at the Office of Homeland Security. This year a total of eight teams vied for the coveted Meyda Trophy©. Three teams came from as far away as Poland (the country), Flagler County Florida, New York City Fire Department (FDNY), local teams were from Rural Metro and two teams from Utica Fire Department.
Along with the first place trophy and the Meyda trophy, FDNY’s three competing members will also receives a paid round-trip with accommodations to Poland as they will represent EMS Global in that countries event held in September 2010.
The Second place trophy went to Flagler County, Florida and Third place went to Poland III.
The IEMSC committee would like to thank all competitors, judges/volunteers and sponsors for without whom, this event would not have succeeded.
